Actually, Railways has announced to increase the ticket prices of mail and express trains. A new ticket fare structure has been announced by the Railways. Under this, if a passenger travels a distance of less than 215 kilometers in ordinary class, there will be no additional burden on him. That means there has been no change in the train fare for such passengers.
Fare hike for distances beyond 215 km
However, the fare has been increased for passengers covering distance more than 215 kilometres. According to the new rules, there has been an increase of one paise per kilometer in the ordinary class, while there has been an increase of two paise per kilometer in the Mail-Express Non-AC and AC classes.

Railways says that from this change it is expected to earn additional income of up to Rs 600 crore. Under the new fare structure, if a passenger travels 500 km by non-AC train, he will have to pay Rs 10 extra on his ticket.
If we understand this increase with an example, at present the distance from Delhi to Patna is about 1000 kilometers and the fare of third AC is about Rs 2,395. But after December 26, 2025, if a passenger travels by Rajdhani train on the same route, due to an increase of two paise per kilometer, he will have to pay about Rs 20 extra on his ticket.
