Dense fog and cold days continue to wreak havoc in Uttar Pradesh. The Meteorological Department has issued yellow, orange and red alerts for the next 48 hours. There has been a warning that dense fog and cold will persist in many districts till December 27.

Lucknow. Winter has started showing its full effect in Uttar Pradesh. Since last one week, most of the districts of the state are in the grip of dense fog and cold winds. The situation is such that visibility is extremely low in the morning and evening, due to which road, rail and air traffic is being badly affected. The Meteorological Department has issued yellow, orange and red alerts regarding dense to very dense fog for the next 48 hours. During this period, warnings of cold day have also been given in many districts. However, there is no chance of rain and the weather will remain dry.

Chances of temperature fluctuations

According to the Meteorological Department, there may be a slight change in the maximum temperature in the coming two to three days, while the minimum temperature is likely to increase by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius. After this, once again the minimum temperature may drop by 2 to 4 degrees Celsius. At present, fog and cold day conditions are expected to persist till December 27.

Cold day in many districts on Saturday

Cold day conditions persisted in many districts of the state on Saturday. Visibility reached zero in Ghaziabad, Agra, Kanpur and Prayagraj. Lucknow, Barabanki, Varanasi, Bahraich, Sultanpur, Ghazipur, Basti, Bareilly, Shahjahanpur, Najibabad, Hardoi, Ballia, Churk, Gorakhpur, Moradabad, Etawah and Agra also experienced cold throughout the day. There was no sunshine throughout the day in Lucknow. There was dense fog in the morning and evening, while cloud movement was seen in some areas. The maximum temperature in the capital was recorded at 16 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature was 10 degrees Celsius.

Where will be the cold day on Sunday?

On December 21, the Meteorological Department warned Kaushambi, Prayagraj, Fatehpur, Pratapgarh, Varanasi, Sant Ravidas Nagar, Jaunpur, Ghazipur, Azamgarh, Mau, Gorakhpur, Ballia, Deoria, Sant Kabir Nagar, Basti, Kushinagar, Maharajganj, Siddharth Nagar, Gonda, Kanpur Nagar, Unnao, Lucknow, Barabanki, Rae Bareli, Amethi, Sultanpur, Ayodhya and Cold day warning has been issued in Ambedkar Nagar.

Alert of dense to very dense fog in these districts

Dense to very dense fog has been predicted in Kaushambi, Prayagraj, Fatehpur, Pratapgarh, Kanpur Nagar, Unnao, Rae Bareli, Amethi and surrounding areas. Apart from this, Banda, Chitrakoot, Sonbhadra, Mirzapur, Chandauli, Varanasi, Sant Ravidas Nagar, Jaunpur, Ghazipur, Azamgarh, Mau, Ballia, Hardoi, Ghaziabad, Hapur, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Bulandshahr, Aligarh, Mathura, Farrukhabad, Kannauj, Kanpur Dehat, Lucknow, Barabanki, Sultanpur, Ayodhya, Ambedkar Nagar, Dense fog is also expected in Hathras, Kasganj, Etah, Agra, Firozabad, Mainpuri, Etawah, Auraiya, Jalaun, Hamirpur, Mahoba, Jhansi and Lalitpur.

How will the weather be from 21st to 27th December?

  • December 21: Dry weather over Western and Eastern UP, dense fog over Western UP and dense to very dense fog over Eastern UP.
  • December 22: Dry weather in the state, dense to very dense fog in eastern UP.
  • December 23: Dry weather, dense fog in parts of western and eastern UP.
  • 24 December: Weather dry, dense fog at isolated places in both parts.
  • December 25: Dry weather, dense to very dense fog in western and eastern UP.
  • 26 December: Weather dry, dense to very dense fog in many areas.
  • December 27: Dry weather, dense to very dense fog at isolated places in both parts of the state.

The Meteorological Department has advised people to take special precautions in the morning and night, especially the drivers have been appealed to slow down and maintain safe distance in fog.
