It was a moment full of pain, drama, and courage during the third and final test between the West Indies and New Zealand at Mount Maunganui.

West Indies batter Kavem Hodge went through a frightening few seconds that quickly went viral across the social media platforms.

The incident happened on Day 3 of the third and final Test. Kavem Hodge was batting on 97 in the West Indies' first innings and was marching towards his well-earned century against New Zealand. He was facing the first ball of the Kiwi pacer Michael Rae's over, the 105th over of the innings.

The delivery angled back in sharply, beat Hodge's bat, and struck him in the groin. Hodge dropped to the ground immediately. The pain was severe, and the stump microphone picked up every groan as he struggled to breathe.

He rolled on the pitch for a few moments, clearly winded and in pain. His reaction was raw and natural, and the audio made the moment even more intense for everyone watching. The West Indies cricket team's physio quickly came out to check on him.

Kavem Hodge shows grit and guts to smash a brave century after a painful blow

Later, Kavem Hodge showed strong resolve as he got back on his feet by himself and began walking, trying to shake off the pain without needing further help. And then his mental strength on the spot at Mount Maunganui.

On the very next ball, Hodge worked the ball into the leg side and ran two runs, moving to 99. Then, on the following delivery, he pulled the ball confidently for four runs to bring up his second Test century.

It was a special hundred that came off 224 balls. This brave innings played a crucial role for the West Indies, as they avoided the follow-on in the ongoing third Test against New Zealand. Now, the touring side has the final day and 10 wickets in hand to chase the massive 419 more runs to level the Test series after drawing the first game on the tour.

After the stumps, Hodge said, "Thankfully, I was able to get over it and go past the landmark. I told myself, Hey, I spent all day getting to 90. I still have all day tomorrow. Just stick to the processes. It makes no sense; I work so hard from zero to 90 and then go change. So, stick to the processes, and keep concentrating on every opportunity I get."

Tom Latham and Devon Conway make Test history

On the other hand, Tom Latham and Devon Conway created history by achieving something that had never happened before in Test cricket. New Zealand's opening pair scored centuries in both innings of the ongoing Test match at Mount Maunganui.

After scoring 137 and 227 in the first innings, Latham and Conway came out with the same confidence in the second innings and hit stunning centuries against the West Indies. By doing so, Latham and Conway became the first opening pair in Test cricket history to score centuries in both innings of the same match.
