UP Inter Caste Marriage Scheme: The UP government is providing Rs 2.5 lakh in assistance to those who have inter-caste marriages in Uttar Pradesh. It's important to know who can benefit, how to receive the money, and the correct application process.

UP Inter Caste Marriage Scheme: In India, marriage is not just a relationship, but also a significant expense. Even a normal wedding today costs lakhs of rupees. Many families have to take out loans or postpone the wedding. But very few people know that if you are having an inter-caste marriage, the government provides direct financial assistance of Rs 2.5 lakh.

The money under this scheme is not given as a subsidy or loan, but as direct assistance. For couples living in UP, this scheme can significantly reduce the burden of wedding expenses. If you are hearing about this scheme for the first time, here are all the details.

The UP Government is Giving Rs 2.5 Lakh for Marriage

The UP government's scheme is called the Dr. Ambedkar Scheme for Social Integration through Inter Caste Marriages. It is run by the Dr. Ambedkar Foundation. The aim of the scheme is to reduce caste discrimination in society and promote inter-caste marriages. Under this scheme, if one of the partners in the marriage belongs to the Dalit community,

and the other belongs to a non-Dalit community, the couple receives a total of Rs 2.5 lakh in assistance. This scheme was launched in 2013 and is still in effect. Residents of UP can avail of this scheme, provided the marriage is registered under the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955. It is important to note that this assistance is only available for the first marriage.

How to Apply?

Some necessary conditions have been set for this scheme. One of the partners in the marriage must belong to the Dalit community. The marriage must be registered under the Hindu Marriage Act, and the application must be submitted within one year of the marriage. If assistance has already been received from any other government scheme for the marriage, then this scheme is not applicable. That amount is then deducted from the total of ₹2.5 lakh.

The money is disbursed in two installments. In the first phase, ₹1.5 lakh is transferred directly to the couple's joint bank account via NEFT or RTGS. The remaining ₹1 lakh is kept in a fixed deposit for three years. This amount, along with the accrued interest, is given to the couple after three years.

Documents Required

To apply for the scheme, a marriage certificate, caste certificate, proof of first marriage, affidavit, income certificate, and joint bank account details are required. Applications can be submitted through the district administration with a recommendation from a Member of Parliament (MP) or Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA), or the process can be completed directly by obtaining information from the Dr. Ambedkar Foundation website, ambedkarfoundation.nic.in.
