Google Play, YouTube return to Movies Anywhere: Why it matters
20 Dec 2025

Google Play and YouTube have rejoined the movie syncing service Movies Anywhere.

The development comes after a brief hiatus that began on October 31, when Disney (the owner of Movies Anywhere) removed Google as a partner.

This change came around the same time as the expiration of a broadcasting deal for Disney-owned channels on YouTube TV.

User impact

The cable outage was short-lived, but Movies Anywhere users had to do without Google Play and YouTube support for nearly two months.

Now, the services are back as partner platforms. Users can easily reconnect their accounts in just a few clicks.

Those affected by this change should have received an email announcing the return of both services on the platform.

Process

To restore service, users simply have to log into their account and click the "Connect" button on the next page. Then, they select their preferred Google account and that's it.

If you didn't get this email notification, you can still manage your connections from within Movies Anywhere's account preferences.

Just go to the main homepage of Movies Anywhere, sign in and select Settings from the dropdown menu in the top-right corner.
