On the instructions of Yogi government, a state level program was organized in Lucknow to empower women-led enterprises. In this, livelihood-centric technologies, making lakhpati didis into millionaires and making rural women self-reliant were discussed.

Lucknow. On the instructions of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, continuous efforts are being made to empower women-led enterprises in Uttar Pradesh. In this sequence, a state level program based on livelihood-centric technologies was organized at Indira Gandhi Pratishthan, Lucknow. Government missions, technology developing organizations, women entrepreneurs and subject experts participated in the program.

Discussion on how women's enterprises can become stronger through technology

The main objective of the program was to understand how practical and innovative technological solutions can strengthen and sustain women-run enterprises in Uttar Pradesh. Through this initiative, emphasis was laid on building a bridge between technology and livelihood.

Organized in collaboration with many organizations

This state level program was organized in collaboration with Uttar Pradesh State Rural Livelihood Mission, Science for Equity, Empowerment and Development Division, Development Alternatives and Vigyan Ashram under the Department of Science and Technology.

Modern technologies related to livelihood shown in the exhibition

An exhibition was also organized during the event, in which various institutions showcased their technologies.

  • Sardar Patel Renewable Energy Research Institute displayed biomass cookstove and solar fridge.
  • IIT Bombay- RuTAG presented Solar Hydro Distiller.
  • RuKart showcases vegetable cooler technology.
  • Farmer Dharambir demonstrated the multi-purpose food processor technology.

The goal of making lakhpati didis millionaires

The chief guest of the program, Deepa Ranjan, Mission Director of Uttar Pradesh State Rural Livelihood Mission, interacted with women entrepreneurs. He said that the objective of this initiative is to transform lakhpati didis into crorepati didis. He informed that more than one crore women are associated with the State Rural Livelihood Mission in the state.

Rural network connected with socially useful technologies

Access to rural livelihood institutions was linked to socially useful technologies supported under the TAP-RISE (Technology Acceleration Platform for Rural Innovation and Social Entrepreneurship) initiative. Joint Mission Director of State Rural Livelihood Mission, Janamejay Shukla said that the success of Lakhpati Didis shows that they have every possibility of becoming millionaires.

Experts told the ways of self-reliance

On this occasion, Shrestant Patra (Chief Executive Officer, Development Alternatives), Dr. Yogesh Kulkarni (Executive Director, Vigyan Ashram), Kanika Verma (Executive Vice President, Development Alternatives) shared their views on practical ways to make rural women self-reliant and entrepreneurial.
