Indian Railways has given two big gifts to the passengers at once! Now booking Tatkal tickets has become safer and easier than ever, while the tension of those waiting for tickets has also ended to a great extent. These new rules have come into effect immediately.

Lottery for those with waiting tickets! Now you will know 10 hours in advance whether it is confirmed or not

What used to happen earlier? Passengers with waiting tickets were able to find out whether their seats were confirmed only 4 hours before the departure of the train. Now Railways has increased this time to 10 hours in advance. This means that now you will get ample time to know the exact status of your ticket and you will be able to plan your journey comfortably. No problem in telling family members, packing things or making other plans!

When will the reservation chart be made? look at the new time table

• The chart of trains running from 5 am to 2 pm will now be ready a day before by 8 pm.


• The final chart of trains running from 2 pm to 5 am the next day will be prepared at least 10 hours in advance.

This change has brought great relief especially for those with waiting tickets.

New security lock in Tatkal tickets – no more touts!

Railways has tightened its grip on ticket mafia and fake account holders. Now OTP has been made mandatory to book Tatkal tickets. Not a single Tatkal ticket will be booked without OTP. Also, the IRCTC accounts of those users who have not completed their KYC will be blocked. This will curb those selling tickets in black and genuine passengers will get tickets easily.

Both these changes together are going to make travel more convenient and safe. Next time you plan a train, remember these new rules!
