New Delhi. Former CSK opener batsman has made a big revelation about former Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Robin Uthappa said that IPL 2026 will be the last season for former Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni. After this he will completely retire from cricket. Uthappa said this during the mini auction of IPL 2026 on Jio Hotstar. He said that Dhoni will leave cricket completely this year and this will be his last season.
CSK franchise has always given importance to experience in its team. That’s why it is always considered a franchise that gives importance to experience, but this time the CSK franchise has chosen young players instead of experience in the team. Apart from the five-time champion Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the CSK franchise used to keep experienced players and uncapped heavy players in the team and also spent heavily on them, but after this the franchise has surprised everyone by signing 19-year-old Prashant Veer and 20-year-old Kartik Sharma for Rs 14.2 crore. Both these players have jointly become the most expensive uncapped Indians in the history of IPL auction. Apart from these, Zack Foulkes is the talent of New Zealand, while Noor Ahmed (20) and Dewald Brewis (22) are still in their early 20s.
Robin Uthappa said that this change has not happened suddenly. All this was already decided. Uthappa said that I think when you look at the investment in youth and the kind of teams they have picked since last year, all signs point in this direction. They are focusing on developing talent, finding talent and keeping that talent within the franchise. Let us tell you that Mahendra Singh Dhoni is now 44 years old. He was retained by the CSK franchise even before the auction. The franchise has priced him at Rs 4 crore.
