Haryana News: The government is going to take a big step to control air pollution in the districts of Haryana falling under the National Capital Region (NCR). The state government is preparing to ban petrol and diesel vehicles used for commercial work. Under this, instructions have been given to the concerned companies and transporters to include only CNG, electric or hybrid vehicles in their fleet from January 1, 2026.

According to the information, this decision will be implemented in a phased manner in Faridabad, Gurugram, Jhajjar and Sonipat districts. This decision has been taken under Directive No. 94 of the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM). According to this, vehicles of motor cabs, taxis, delivery service providers and e-commerce companies will be converted from conventional fuel to vehicles based on clean fuel.

Delivery companies will be directly affected

After the implementation of the new rules, no delivery company will be allowed to use bikes, scooters, autos or small four-wheelers (LCV/LGV) running on petrol or diesel. This will directly impact big companies like Swiggy, Zomato, Blinkit, Amazon, Flipkart and thousands of delivery partners. All of them will have to convert their entire delivery fleet to CNG or electric vehicles (EV).

Know what are the new rules

According to the public information issued by the Haryana Transport Commissioner’s Office, many important changes will come into effect from January 1, 2026. All motor vehicle aggregators, e-commerce companies and delivery service providers will now be able to include only CNG or electric three-wheelers (auto rickshaws) in their fleet. Apart from this, there will be a complete ban on inclusion of new two-wheeler vehicles running on petrol and diesel and four-wheeler LGV (N1 category – up to 3.5 tonnes) in the fleet. To implement these rules, Rule 86-A of Haryana Motor Vehicles Rules, 1993 has been amended.

Suggestions sought from the public

The government has issued a draft notification (No. 13/9/2016-67 (1), dated 11.12.2025) in this regard. If any person or organization has any objection to these rules or has any suggestion, they can register their opinion within seven days from the date of publication in the Gazette. The suggestions and objections received will be considered by the Additional Chief Secretary (Transport Department), Government of Haryana.
