New Delhi. Argentina’s star footballer Lionel Messi will be in Delhi today. He will participate in the exhibition match to be held at the Arun Jaitley International Stadium. In view of this, Delhi Police has made elaborate security arrangements.
In view of the uproar during the function organized in Kolkata, Delhi Police has made complete preparations. There will be a three layer security system in and around the stadium and about three thousand security personnel will be present around the stadium. The traffic police has advised drivers to avoid the routes around the stadium during the function. Official sources to security said that three thousand security personnel will be deployed for security during the ceremony. CCTV cameras have been installed not only inside the stadium but also outside. The entire program will be monitored through drone cameras. Police expect many of Messi’s fans to reach the stadium during the event. Lionel Messi is in India these days on his GOAT India Tour-2025. Under this, he will take part in an exhibition match in Delhi on Monday. If sources are to be believed, apart from Delhi Police, other security agencies will also be present to keep the security arrangements tight. Senior officials have held a meeting and reviewed the security issue.
Drivers advised to adopt alternative routes
The traffic police have advised drivers to avoid certain routes during footballer Lionel Messi’s exhibition match at the Arun Jaitley International Stadium. Traffic police have advised drivers to use alternative routes via Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, ITO, Delhi Gate, Netaji Subhash Marg and Brijmohan Chowk from 10 am till the end of the programme. Traffic on these routes may be affected during the program.
Central District Traffic Police Deputy Commissioner Nishant Gupta said that if necessary, to maintain smooth traffic, the traffic route can be changed from Delhi Gate Chowk and ITO. He said traffic may slow down for some time during the VIP movement to ensure players’ buses reach and enter the stadium smoothly. He informed that three main parking areas have been arranged for marked vehicles.
Marked vehicles will be able to park their vehicles at P One parking located near Vikram Nagar while unmarked vehicles will be parked at Rajghat Powerhouse parking lot and Mata Sundari Lane. From there people will be able to walk to the stadium. The Deputy Commissioner of Police has also advised app-based taxi users to get down at Rajghat Chowk and cover the remaining distance on foot. No vehicle will be allowed to park around the Arun Jaitley Stadium. Fines can be imposed against those who do so. The traffic police has advised the spectators coming to the program to use metro or buses.
