Material
Thick, less spicy green chillies – 250 grams
Milk – 500 ml
Sugar – 150-200 grams (as per taste)
Ghee - 100 grams
Khoya/Mawa - 50 grams
Cardamom powder – 1/2 tsp
Chopped dry fruits (almonds, pistachios) – 1 tbsp
method of making
- Wash the green chillies, remove the stem and make a long incision down the middle to remove the seeds. Cut the chilli into small pieces.
- Boil water in a vessel and boil chopped green chillies for 5-7 minutes. After boiling, drain the chillies and wash them with cold water. This process is very important to reduce the spiciness. If you want, you can repeat this process one more time.
- Now grind the boiled chillies in a blender.
- Add boiled green chillies and milk in a pan. Cook on medium flame until the milk dries up. Keep stirring occasionally to prevent the chilli from sticking to the bottom. When the milk is almost dry, reduce the flame.
- Heat ghee in a separate pan. Add green chillies cooked in milk to ghee and fry well on low to medium flame. Fry until the color of the chilli changes slightly and the ghee starts separating.
- Add sugar and cardamom powder to the roasted chillies. The sugar will melt and the halwa will become moist. Cook until the sugar syrup dries up and the pudding becomes thick. Then add grated mawa and mix for 2 minutes.
- Your green chilli halwa is ready. Garnish with chopped nuts and serve hot.
