Four cricketers from Assam suspended : Currently domestic cricket tournaments are going on in India. Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy tournament is also involved in this. Meanwhile, the Assam Cricket Association (ACA) has suspended four cricketers for their alleged involvement in corruption during the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2025. Let’s go into what the actual case is.
The suspended players had represented Assam at various stages. Now an FIR has been filed against him in the crime branch of the state police. These players have been accused of trying to influence and instigate some of the Assam players participating in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. ACA secretary Sanatan Das said, “Following the allegations, BCCI’s Anti-Corruption and Security Unit (ACSU) has conducted an inquiry and ACA has also initiated criminal proceedings. Prima facie, there are indications of serious misconduct affecting the integrity of the game.” The suspended players include Amit Sinha, Ishan Ahmed, Aman Tripathi and Abhishek Thakur.
Assam’s Syed Mushtaq League matches are played in Lucknow from 26 November to 8 December. But, they failed to qualify for the ongoing Super League stage. Das added, “He has been suspended to avoid any further escalation of the situation. The suspension will remain in effect till the final outcome of the inquiry or until further action is taken by the association.”
During the period of suspension, these players will be prohibited from participating in any state level tournament or match organized by ACA, their district units or affiliated clubs. During the period of suspension he cannot participate in any cricket activities including match referee, coach, umpire etc. Sanatan Das added that all district associations have been directed to strictly follow the order and inform clubs and academies under their jurisdiction about the ACA’s decision.
