Tech giant Amazon has increased the pace of its investment in India. The day after announcing a $35 billion investment in India, its cloud services company AWS (Amazon Web Services) has signed a major framework agreement with the Telangana government. Under this, AWS will invest $ 7 billion (about ₹ 63,000 crore) in the next 14 years to further expand its cloud data center infrastructure in Hyderabad.

This will be the second data center after Mumbai

This new investment by AWS is an extension of the announcement made three years ago, when the company planned to invest $2.7 billion to establish its AWS Asia Pacific (Hyderabad) Region in Hyderabad in 2020. This is AWS's second data center region in India after Mumbai, which was launched in 2022. At the time of launch itself, the company had announced to increase this investment to $ 4.4 billion by 2030. Now with the new $7 billion, AWS's Hyderabad region is going to become a major technology hub for cloud services, artificial intelligence, startups and government platforms across the country.

Telangana CM said this

The Telangana government said that under the new agreement, AWS will be provided full support by the state in terms of necessary infrastructure, facilities and ease of doing business, so that the data center network can be expanded rapidly. This agreement was signed during the Telangana Rising Global Summit. Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy called this investment a proof of the growing possibilities of Telangana. He said, the confidence of global giants like Amazon shows that investors believe in our government, stability and the vision of a $3 trillion economy by 2047.

IT and Industry Minister D. Sridhar Babu said that this expansion will establish Hyderabad as the data center capital of India. This will give a big boost to the state in the direction of employment, innovation, AI and digital infrastructure. Sandeep Dutta, President, AWS India and South Asia, said that this agreement reflects Amazon's continued commitment to India's digital progress and will strengthen its vision of making Telangana a global tech hub.
