As Britons gear up for their traditional turkey and trimmings, it seems many are filled with dread at the prospect of festive table talk.

Whilst most of us relish our Sunday roast, a staggering 37% find Christmas conversation a real struggle, according to fresh research from Uber Eats.

A whopping nine out of ten Gen Z diners admit to being glued to their gadgets during meals, with nearly a quarter (23%) preferring to natter about social media and memes rather than Millennial favourites like grub (25%) and keeping fit (24%). Meanwhile, four in ten Boomers (41%) would rather regale the table with holiday tales, the study revealed.

In a bid to revive the art of proper chinwags, broadcasting legend and chat expert Nick Grimshaw has joined forces with Uber Eats and Indian street food chain Mowgli to craft a collection of festive conversation cards designed to ignite meaningful, unexpected and delightful dialogue.

The cards aim to shift beyond mundane pleasantries into life's weightier matters with prompts such as 'is there a lesson you've learned that's stayed with you' and 'what's a mealtime tradition you'd love to start?'

They offer a seasonal twist on Mowgli's fundamental philosophy of uniting people through hearty Indian home cooking.

"I love when people open up and share their stories, and I firmly believe that the best conversations happen when people are relaxed, enjoying good food, and have their phones at bay, being present in the moment", Nick Grimshaw said. Enthusiasts can dine alongside Nick at Mowgli in London on 16th December - simply follow Uber Eats UK on Instagram for further details.

Nick commented: "I'm thrilled to team up with Uber Eats and Mowgli to inject some life back into dinner table discussions, giving people the tools they need to switch off the screen and turn up the chat."

Mowgli's offerings span from hearty Mother Butter Chicken to vibrant street food such as Fenugreek Fries - mouth-watering creations available on the high street or delivered exclusively through Uber Eats.

Saskia De Jongh from Uber Eats remarked: "Every day, millions of us enjoy amazing food through Uber Eats. With Mowgli, we wanted to offer something extra this Christmas: delicious dishes and a moment to truly reconnect to our loved ones. After all, great stories, like great food, are meant to be shared."
