The weather patterns of the country have completely changed. From north to northeast, most areas are in the grip of severe cold. On one hand, dense fog is increasing the problems of people, on the other hand, the Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a triple alert of rain, snowfall and cold wave for the next few days in many states.


There will be snowfall and rain on the mountains


According to the latest update of the Meteorological Department, a new western disturbance is becoming active, whose impact will be most visible on the hilly states.



  • From 13 to 16 December: There may be light rain as well as snowfall at many places in Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan and Muzaffarabad.

  • On December 14th: There are chances of light rain or snowfall in Himachal Pradesh also.


This snowfall will have a direct impact on the plains, which will further increase the cold.


Stormy winds will blow with rain in these areas


Not only the mountains, the weather is going to be bad in some other areas also.



  • Andaman and Nicobar Islands: There is a possibility of light to moderate rain here for the next 7 days. During 11 to 16 December 30 to 40 kilometers per hour Strong winds can also blow at this speed. The weather department has also warned of lightning along with storm here.


‘Cold wave’ will continue here till December 13


Amidst the severe cold, cold wave conditions are likely to persist in many areas of Central and Eastern India till December 13. The severity of these cold winds will be especially severe in these states.


There will be a shadow of ‘dense fog’ over these states


Those traveling during the morning hours need to be extremely careful in these states:



  • Northeast India (Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram): From 11 to 15 December.

  • North-eastern Uttar Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh: From 11 to 13 December.

  • Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh: From 13 to 15 December.

  • Uttarakhand and Odisha: On 11 and 12 December.


How will the temperature be?



  • North-West India: There will be no significant change in temperature for the next 2 days, but after that the mercury may rise by 2 to 4 degrees Celsius, which will provide some relief from the cold.

  • Central India: Here also the temperature will remain stable for the next 2 days, after which it may increase by 2 to 3 degrees.

  • Maharashtra: The temperature here will fall by 2 to 3 degrees in the next 3 days, after which there will be a slight increase again.


Overall, the coming few days are going to be very turbulent in terms of weather. Therefore, if you live in these states or are planning to travel here, leave the house only after seeing the weather updates.
