The M440i Convertible, it comes with the basic look of the 4 Series but adds some small changes, especially when the roof is down. BMW is expected to bring the M440i Convertible to India by mid-2026. According to Autocar, BMW has added a few updates that are not limited to the exterior. The car also shares its engine setup with one of BMW’s faster sedans, and its expected price puts it in the same range as a key German competitor. The full details give a clearer picture of what to expect.
BMW M440i Convertible design
The BMW M440i Convertible is based on the 4 Series Coupe, so most of its design remains the same, except for the soft fabric roof. This roof can open or close in 18 seconds and works at speeds of up to 50kph. At the front, the car gets slim LED headlights with diagonal DRLs on both sides of the large kidney grilles. The bumper also has big air intakes. On the sides, the M440i rides on 19-inch alloy wheels and carries M badges on the fenders. There is also a wind deflector placed behind the front seats. At the back, the car gets sleek LED tail-lamps, a small spoiler built into the bootlid, and a strong-looking rear diffuser that gives it a sporty look.
BMW M440i Convertible cabin
Inside, the M440i Convertible can seat four people. The cabin has a clean and simple layout. The main highlight is the 14.9-inch curved touchscreen placed at the centre of the dashboard. On the driver’s side, there is a digital instrument cluster and an M-spec flat-bottom steering wheel. The car also gets a 12-speaker Harman Kardon audio system, wireless phone charging, a heads-up display, tyre pressure monitoring, powered sports seats with memory function, ambient lighting and automatic climate control.
Power comes from the familiar 3.0-litre turbocharged straight-six engine, the same one used in the M340i sedan. It produces 374hp and 500Nm of torque. The engine is paired with an 8-speed automatic gearbox that sends power to all four wheels. With this setup, BMW claims the M440i Convertible can go from 0 to 100kph in 4.9 seconds. The top speed is electronically limited to 250kph.
