New Delhi. Indian Test and ODI team captain Shubman Gill has had a good run this year. After getting the captaincy, he has created havoc in Test cricket. However, his form in T20 still remains a matter of concern. In the year 2025, Shubman Gill has so far scored 1736 runs in 40 innings of 33 matches played in all formats at an average of 51.05, which includes 7 centuries and 3 half-centuries. Gill was the highest run-scorer so far this year, but West Indies’ Shay Hope has overtaken him to get the number-1 crown in the second Test against New Zealand in Wellington.

Shay Hope now has the highest number of 1749 runs in 2025. In the year 2025, the race to score the most runs in all three formats – Test, ODI and T20 – is now between Shay Hope and Shubman Gill. Apart from these two, no one has been able to touch the figure of 1600 runs till now. Now it remains to be seen who wins by the end of this year.

Talking about Shay Hope, he has one innings left in the ongoing Wellington Test against New Zealand, while he has to play one more Test match against the Kiwi team where he will get a chance to bat twice more.

Shubman Gill is part of the Indian team in the T20 series against South Africa. By the end of this year, India has to play 4 more T20 matches with the guests, in such a situation Gill will have 4 chances to stake his claim for number-1. However, this task is not going to be easy for them.

Shay Hope’s remaining three innings are in Test format. During this time he will have more opportunities to play long innings. Whereas Shubman Gill has to play 4 innings in T20 where he will get very less time. Now who will become the king of 2025 will be known only in the coming days.
