Households throughout the country are facing mid-contract price increases for utility bills, despite initially signing up to a fixed tariff price, which can change during the contract period due to inflation. Broadband is one service where such hikes are commonplace, but a new offer from EE may help eliminate that concern.
Anyone who switches from their current plan mid-contract to EE will receive up to £300 to cover switching costs. As the company states: "Switch to our ultrafast broadband today, and we'll cover up to £300 of your leaving fees."
In its extended Black Friday sale, EE is offering its Full Fibre 100 broadband for £26.99 per month, with no upfront costs and EE's Smart Hub featuring the latest WiFi 7 connectivity to deliver rapid speeds throughout the home. However, the deal is due to expire on Thursday, December 11, after which prices will increase again.
The £26.99 broadband deal applies to the Full Fibre 100 service on a 24-month contract, though EE provides a complete range of packages up to Full Fibre 900Mbps.
The latter is currently available for £36.99, which EE says is its 'lowest ever price for 900Mbps', reports the Daily Record.
There are annual price rises to consider from March 31 each year, with EE providing 12 and 24-month contracts. Ofcom has previously highlighted that EE was amongst the leading providers for customer satisfaction, second only to Plusnet (which is also part of BT Group).
In a competing offer, Plusnet is offering a £100 reward card to those switching from their current provider. EE is facing competition in terms of pricing, as while it offers lower prices for Black Friday, Plusnet is currently providing faster broadband at a lower cost.
Plusnet's Full Fibre 145 package, offering speeds of 145Mbps, is now £22.99 a month, which is cheaper than EE. This deal also includes a £50 reward card for new customers who switch, but Plusnet does not offer to cover any fees that may be incurred by switching early.
Virgin Media's deals, which include a £200 incentive to switch, will last until December 12. Its latest three-month free promotion is available with several packages, including the Entertainment bundle at £36.99 per month and the Sports bundle, priced at £56.99 a month.
As with all broadband offers, to take advantage of Full Fibre, customers need to have the fibre installed in their street and connected to their home. Some services only provide fibre to the cabinet down the road, using older copper wiring to the houses on that street, which means speeds are more limited.
