Ayushman Bharat Mahatma Phule Scheme Marathi News: The state government has taken an important step to provide more quality and accessible healthcare to the citizens of the state. Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) and Mahatma Jyotirao Phule Jan Arogya Yojana (MJPJAY) by merging both the schemes, significant reforms have been implemented from January 2025. Chief Executive Officer of State Health Assurance Society Annasaheb Chavan informed about these reforms.
Increase in number and quality of treatment
The number of treatments available to patients under this combined scheme has been increased from 1356 to 2399. The rates of treatment have been increased and necessary reforms have been made in the payment process. It has been decided to provide an incentive of 10 to 15 percent per treatment to NABH and NQAS certified hospitals to enhance the quality of treatment.
Grievance redressal and guidance system
Mechanisms have been set up at the state level for effective implementation of the scheme and redressal of grievances. For effective implementation of the scheme and redressal of grievances, “District Monitoring and Grievance Redressal Committee” under the chairmanship of the Collector and “Public Health Protection Executive Committee” under the chairmanship of the Guardian Minister have been formed.
It is mandatory to set up a scheme room (kiosk) in the facade of every accredited hospital and in this room, “Arogyamitra” has been appointed to guide the citizens. In case of difficulty in getting treatment and facilities, responsibility for immediate redressal of complaints has been assigned to District Coordinator, Area Manager, Implementation Support Organization and District Medical Officer. The information of their contact numbers has been ordered to be clearly displayed in every hospital.
Compulsory cashless treatment; Action in case of violation
This step of the state government will be important for citizens to get quality, timely and completely cashless healthcare services. There is a clear directive that patients should not be charged for packages that include surgery, check-ups, transplants, medicines, meals and one-time travel expenses. If there are complaints of denying the treatment covered by the scheme or demanding money from the patients, the concerned hospital will be fined, suspended or canceled after investigation.
All citizens of the state are eligible for treatment under this integrated scheme. Citizens are urged to be aware of the schemes and exercise their rights and contact Arogya Mitra, district level officials or State Arogya Guarantee Society for any problem.
