Jamie Carragher might never have wanted Liverpool to win a game more than against Inter Milan at the San Siro. The Reds icon's claim does not stem from the opposition or the stature of the clash, but instead is due to Mohamed Salah.
Liverpool's trip to Italy comes in the aftermath of the Egyptian international lashing out against Arne Slot and the club following their draw against Leeds. Salah has since been left out of the squad that has travelled to Milan.
The fallout came amidst Salah being left out of Slot's starting line-ups as the Dutchman attempted to turn around Liverpool's form. Not everyone has agreed with the methods that Salah undertook to cite his displeasure, Carragher chief among them.
The former Reds defender hasspoken out in emphatic fashion over his disappointment and his enthusiasm for Liverpool to succeed in Salah's absence. Responding to a news outlet highlighting an Instagram post from Salah, which showed him working in the gym alone.
"I’m not sure I’ve wanted Liverpool to win a game more than tonight for a long time!" Carragher said on X. "Come you mighty *red circle*"

Speaking about Salah's interview on Monday Night Football ahead of Manchester United ’s 4-1 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers, Carragher said: “I thought it was a disgrace what he did after the game.
“Some people have painted it as an emotional outburst – I don’t think it was. I think whenever Mo Salah stops in a mixed zone, which he has done four times in eight years at Liverpool, it’s choreographed with his agent to cause maximum damage and strengthen his own position.
"He’s chosen this weekend to do this now, and he’s waited I think for a bad result…everyone involved with the club (feeling) like they’re in the gutter, and he’s chosen that time to go for the manager and maybe try to get him sacked."
Carragher has also defended his remarks. The pundit suggested his words should not be seen as having a dig at the player.
He said: “They weren’t jibes, you & others have completely missed the point, which was no matter how good you are, we all need help from the club, players & fans to be successful. He’s been amazing for LFC & LFC have been amazing for him. Which I was just reminding him.”
