Yamuna Expressway: It has been decided to reduce the speed of vehicles on the Yamuna Expressway connecting Greater Noida to Agra in Uttar Pradesh in the coming days due to cold and fog. Yamuna Authority has taken this step in view of the increasing danger of accidents on the expressway. Visibility reduces due to fog in winter, which increases the risk of road accidents.

Speed of light vehicles limited to 75 kilometers per hour

The authority has decided to reduce the speed of light vehicles on the 165 km long Yamuna Expressway from 100 km per hour to 75 km per hour from December 15. The traffic police will directly issue online challan against those violating the prescribed limit. This expressway passes through the districts of Gautam Buddha Nagar, Aligarh, Hathras, Mathura and Agra.

60 kilometer per hour limit for heavy vehicles

Keeping safety in mind in winter, the speed limit for heavy vehicles has been fixed at 60 kilometers per hour. This restriction will remain in force till February 15. The traffic police will immediately issue online challan against the rule breakers, which will be sent to the vehicle owner’s address.

Precautions and additional arrangements

To increase safety during fog in winter, continuous instructions are being given through public address system at Jewar, Mathura and Agra toll plazas to exercise caution. To reduce the fatigue of heavy vehicle drivers, free tea is being provided at the toll plaza. Apart from this, reflective tapes are being installed on commercial vehicles to increase the visibility of vehicles during fog and pamphlets are also being distributed for awareness.
