Ranchi: The scholarship amount for general category students studying in classes 9th to 12th in Jharkhand will also increase. This proposal of the School Education and Literacy Department can be approved in the cabinet meeting to be held on Monday. Chief Minister Hemant Soren, as a departmental minister, has already approved this proposal.

According to the proposal sent to the Cabinet, the monthly scholarship of class 9th and 10th students will be increased from Rs 150 to Rs 450. In this way, the scholarship of the students of these classes will increase three times. Similarly, the monthly scholarship amount for class 11th and 12th students will be increased from Rs 230 to Rs 500. The amount increasing is more than double.

About 58 thousand students will benefit from this increase in scholarship. The state government will bear an additional amount of Rs 27 crore on this.

Let us tell you that scholarship is given by the Welfare Department to the students of SC, ST and OBC category of the state. This department has already increased the amount. The Department of School Education and Literacy provides scholarship to the students of general category from 9th to 12th under the Chief Minister Special Scholarship Scheme from the year 2021. The scholarship amount is transferred to the students through DBT.
