In the depths of winter, there's no better time to start thinking about your next holiday. The thought of escaping the UK's cold weather can make your holiday feel even more exciting.

In January, there's one place you won't want to miss out on, travel experts say. Best of all, from London, it takes just two hours and 45 minutes to be transported to this perfect holiday spot.

Seville, in Spain, is a city known for its culture, history and exciting atmosphere.

The Diary of a Nomad says Seville only gets around six days of rain across the whole of January. It says visiting in January is the perfect time of the year to see the city.

It says: "Seville is the capital of Andalusia and one of the sunniest places in Europe. Even in January, temperatures are very mild.

"Plus, you can escape the crowds of the high season (April-June) as well as the extreme heat of the low season (July-August)."

One must-do while you're there is to see a flamenco show. This iconic style of Spanish music and the famous dance is an experience you can't miss out on while you're there.

For food, you'll have to try the world-famous Spanish tapas. Whether you're looking for a lighter bite to eat or an array of traditional Spanish cuisine to enjoy, there's something for everyone in these delicious small plates.

The city is home to a huge range of sights to see. One of which is the Plaza de España - a large square inside Maria Luisa Park, and a popular spot with visitors.

One person who visited on Tripadvisor said: "Great, impressive, great details, huge. Somehow you run out of superlatives. Of all the great sights in Seville, the clear number one."

Another penned: "Loved this place. The water was drained from the lake but still an interesting place to see. Lovely architecture. Lots of tourists in this area. A must see."

For a short break filled with brighter weather and exciting places to explore, Seville can't be overlooked.
