People shopping in Lidl were left floored after they noticed an unlikely animalwas "shoplifting" in the bakery aisle – taking little crumbs of pastries and helping himself to whatever he fancied.

In the clip, which garnered over 140,000 likes, a robin could be seen sitting among some croissants. The little bird began pecking at the flaky pastries it was nestled between – and we can't say we blame it for doing so! In fact, someone joked that "he only wanted a Lidl bit".

Looking so sweet as it ate the crumbs, the robin seemed unperturbed that other shoppers were around – until someone came a little too close with their trolley and it flew away.

However, the robin had a safe landing, as he found himself on the almond croissants, standing atop a pile of the golden delights.

At the end of the clip, the video captured the robin flying away - but nobody knows how he even ended up in the bakery aisle.

In the comments, people were saying how adorable the little robin was, joking that he should be able to "stuff himself" with as many crumbs as he wanted.

"Robin by name, robbing by nature," an Instagrammer joked.

Somebody said that if they saw that, they'd be "so excited," because it was "too cute".

A woman joked: "The bakery shelf would be my first destination too...my spirit animal living his/her pastry dream!"

Someone else added: "Everyone in Ireland thinks their passed loved one is now following them into Lidl. Love that for them".

But why would anyone think their deceased loved ones were with them if they saw a robin?

TV psychic Sally Morgan gave credence to the saying 'robins appear when loved ones are near,' which offers comfort to many after someone has passed away, whether it was recently or years ago.

Although it's not for everyone, some people may be seeking signs from the spirit world, and Sallysaid if you are looking for a sign, "one of the first signs you'll receive is a robin".

"Robins are free, they fly in, they fly out", said Sally, who tours across the country, adding you'll "know" it's your cherished person because you will "instantly think of the loved one that has passed".

So, anyone who saw the robin in Lidl, if they thought of someone who had died when they saw it, that means that their spirit is giving a message to them, according to Sally.
