'Avengers: Endgame' to return to theaters before 'Doomsday'

In a bid to build excitement for the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday, Marvel Studios has announced the re-release of Avengers: Endgame.


The beloved superhero film will hit theaters again on September 25, 2026, though it's not yet clear how long it will run.


This move comes ahead of the December 18, 2026, release of Avengers: Doomsday.

Avengers: Doomsday will see the return of directors Joe Russo and Anthony Russo, who helmed Endgame.


The film also marks the return of actor Robert Downey Jr., who famously played Tony Stark/Iron Man in several Marvel films.


However, in Doomsday, he will be seen as the iconic villain, Doctor Doom.

The re-release of Endgame is expected to give a significant boost to the box office.


The film, which originally hit theatres on April 26, 2019, remains the second-highest-grossing title domestically with $858 million, as per Box Office Mojo.


It also holds the record for the biggest opening weekend globally with a $1.2 billion debut.


Marvel head Kevin Feige has previously stated that they make movies for movie theaters because "that's where movies belong."

Avengers: Doomsday cast includes actors from Thunderbolts, Fantastic Four: First Steps, and X-Men, among others.


Meanwhile, other MCU films in the pipeline include Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which is being filmed with Tom Holland and Zendaya reprising their roles, along with Stranger Things star Sadie Sink joining the cast.
