ISRO plans 7 space missions by March 2026
05 Dec 2025
The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) has announced a major plan to conduct seven space missions by March 2026.
The ambitious schedule includes the first uncrewed flight under the Gaganyaan program, a major step toward India's human spaceflight ambitions.
The Bengaluru-based agency will also launch commercial satellites and conduct technology development missions with PSLV and GSLV rockets, in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of 50 launches in five years.
Gaganyaan program and upcoming missions
Mission details
ISRO Chairman V Narayanan said the Gaganyaan program, which aims to send Indian astronauts into space, is progressing well.
The first uncrewed mission, called the G1 Mission, will be launched before the end of this financial year. This will be a major milestone for India's crewed spaceflight ambitions.
In total, ISRO plans three uncrewed missions as precursors to the eventual crewed Gaganyaan mission.
Upcoming LVM3 and PSLV launches
Launch schedule
After the successful launch of the CMS-03 communication satellite, ISRO is gearing up for another LVM3 rocket launch.
The upcoming mission will be dedicated to a commercial communication satellite for a client.
Along with this, ISRO has also planned three more PSLV missions, one of which will be for a customer under NewSpace India Ltd (NSIL), ISRO's commercial arm.
Technology development missions and GSLV-F17 rocket mission
Tech advancements
ISRO has also planned a technology development mission, PSLV-N1, before the end of this financial year.
These tech-focused missions are important for testing new systems and improving launch efficiency.
The GSLV-F17 rocket mission is also on the cards to be launched before March 2026.
This shows ISRO's commitment to balancing technology development with commercial launches and ambitious crewed spaceflight goals.
ISRO's commitment to PM's vision
Future plans
The upcoming seven missions are part of a larger vision set by Prime Minister Modi, who wants 50 successful ISRO rocket launches in five years.
Narayanan reaffirmed ISRO's commitment to this goal, stressing the organization's readiness and determination.
With a mix of uncrewed Gaganyaan missions, commercial satellite launches, and technology development programs, ISRO is setting new standards for India's space ambitions.
