George Russell has revealed that Lewis Hamilton was in charge of ordering food for the table during the traditional annual drivers' dinner ahead of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

The Abu Dhabi driver dinner has become an F1 tradition in recent years, with fans eagerly awaiting the annual photo of the grid on their culinary exploration. In 2025, all but three drivers were present at the event, with Lance Stroll, Fernando Alonso and Nico Hulkenberg skipping the outing.

In an Instagram post looking back at the evening, seven-time world champion Hamilton wrote: "Class of 2025. We're the only people in the world to do what we do, and for that, we're incredibly lucky.

"I'm grateful for this group of drivers I have the privilege of racing against, and even though we're competitors, there's nothing but respect, and I'm proud to call them friends. Hope to give you all a great last race of the season."

Giving his account of the night, Hamilton's former Mercedes team-mate, Russell, said: "Yeah it was very tasty, very tasty. We literally had... Lewis was in charge of the order and literally ordered everything possible on the menu, so we had it all."

Asked where he was positioned on the table, Russell revealed: "I was actually sat with Lewis. I had Lewis on my right, Esteban [Ocon] on the right, but it was a good night all around.

The Brit's Mercedes team-mate also enjoyed his first taste of the annual pre-Abu Dhabi GP drivers' dinner. "It was cool, it was really nice, we had some nice chats, some funny stories, so it was cool vibes, a very cool vibe," Kimi Antonelli told the Silver Arrows' social media team.

He added: "Well, I arrived a little bit late, so I was sitting next to Carlos [Sainz] and Pierre [Gasly]. But it was nice. We talked a lot about karting, like stories in karting... it was pretty cool."

Antonelli's 'cool vibe' claim was backed up by Lando Norris, who has the opportunity to become an F1 world champion in Abu Dhabi this weekend with a podium finish on Sunday. The Brit looked back fondly on a "good" evening with "no dramas" between the F1 stars.

Asked what he ate, the 26-year-old confirmed: "Plenty of sushi, delicious. It was nice to be honest. It was actually nice that we all get together once a year." Norris then added: "I mean, we turned up quite late. We had our team barbecue as well last night, so that was also a nice thing. So, we probably missed like the entries and starters and stuff, but it was a nice dinner."
