Putin Delhi Visit: Russian President Vladimir Putin is reaching Delhi today. A big delegation is also arriving with him. Because of this, it has become almost impossible to get rooms in five star hotels of the capital. The rooms which were available for Rs 50-80 thousand till Wednesday, December 3, have now gone up to Rs 85,000 to Rs 1.3 lakh. Putin's visit has given a boost to Delhi's top luxury hotels, which is rarely seen even during the peak wedding season.
According to media reports, President Putin will stay in the 4,700-square-foot Grand Presidential Suite of ITC Maurya. This is the same place where leaders like Donald Trump, Joe Biden, Bill Clinton have previously stayed. This super-luxury suite features two master bedrooms, private reception area, study room, living room, 12 seater private dining room, mini spa, gym. The most important thing is that the security of this floor remains completely sealed.
The two most famous restaurants of ITC Maurya, Bukhara (also liked by American Presidents) and Dum Pukht, have been prepared. Special menus and exclusive services have been prepared for Putin and his team. The hotel management has not commented on the arrangement, but looking at the movement of the security agencies, it can be estimated how high the level is.
Delhi's air quality is at a dangerous level, hence foreign delegations are paying special attention this time. Due to air purification system, security infrastructure and central location, top hotels like ITC Maurya, Taj Palace, Leela and Oberoi are completely sold out i.e. booked. The demand is so high that there are no rooms left. A hotel official said, 'The Russian delegation has also booked many rooms in the Taj Palace. All the top five-star hotels in Central Delhi are completely full. Due to this, the room rates which were earlier ₹ 50,000-80,000, have now reached more than ₹ 85,000-1,30,000. This surge has come in just 48 hours.
Due to mega venues like Bharat Mandapam and Yashobhoomi, Delhi has now become the first choice for big international conferences and exhibitions. A senior hotelier told TOI that 'Delhi's bad air has reduced tourism, but such mega events create inelastic demand, which is a lifeline for us.'
