A doctor who pleaded guilty to supplying ketamine to Friends star Matthew Perry before the star's death has been jailed. Dr Salvador Plasencia was sentenced to two and a half years. He is the first of five people to receive prison time in connection with Perry's death.

The Friends star, who rose to fame as Chandler Bing in the sitcom, was found drowned in the hot tub at his home after taking ketamine in 2023 after years of struggling with depression and addiction.

Earlier this year Plasencia pleaded guilty to four counts of distributing ketamine. Four others charged have also pleaded guilty and are due to be sentenced.

Ahead of Plasencia's sentencing, Perry's dad John and stepmum Debbie wrote an emotional letter as part of a 'victim impact statement' submitted to the judge. It read: "Your motives? I can't imagine. A doctor whose life is devoted to helping people?"

His heartbroken mum and stepdad also blasted the doctor who supplied him with ketamine weeks before his death.

Suzanne and Keith Morrison conveyed their anger towards Salvador Plasencia in a moving victim impact statement ahead of his court sentencing in LA today. The pair's statement, also written as part of a victim impact statement, described Plasencia and others as "jackals" who exploited their son before his death aged just 54.
