Tatkal Ticket Rules: Railways has made a major change in the rules of Tatkal ticket booking. This change has been made to stop the ongoing fraud in Tatkal ticket booking and the use of fake numbers. After the implementation of the new rule, it has been started with a selected train, after which this rule will gradually be implemented in all trains.

New rule implemented in this train

Indian Railways has implemented a new rule in the Tatkal ticket booking process from December 1, 2025. This new rule has been implemented in Mumbai Central-Ahmedabad Shatabdi Express train. Now, to book Tatkal tickets in this train, it will be mandatory for passengers to enter the OTP received on their registered mobile number. In the coming time, this rule will also be implemented in all railway zones.

OTP mandatory everywhere

If you book Tatkal ticket through IRCTC, mobile app, computerized PRS counter or authorized railway agent, then OTP will be mandatory for that also. Let us tell you that the purpose of this step taken by Railways is to stop fake booking.

Because of this the new rule came into effect

Railways said that at present complaints regarding Tatkal ticket booking are continuously increasing. As soon as booking opens, all tickets disappear within minutes. Brokers and agents used to book a large number of tickets simultaneously, due to which the tickets of other passengers could not be confirmed. To stop this fraud, Railways has implemented OTP system.

Railways advised passengers

Railways has advised passengers to update their registered mobile before booking tickets, because OTP will be sent to the same number. The ticket booking will proceed and be confirmed only after entering the OTP. Once the OTP is sent, the number cannot be changed.
