A familiar face from ITV's This Morning has spoken out about a terrifying health spiral that left him weighing just over six stone. The money-saving expert, adored by viewers for his thrifty tips, has now revealed the secret medical fight he was battling behind the scenes. Jordan Cox - known to millions as the Coupon Kid - explained that his Crohn's disease suddenly worsened, triggering a dramatic and dangerous weight loss that forced doctors to take emergency action.

The long-term condition, which causes parts of the gut to become severely inflamed, has already led to two operations. Jordan recalled the frightening point at which he was rushed into hospital, telling the Crohn's & Colitis UK podcast: "I got admitted into hospital. I was six stone ten in weight. I was about six foot three, six foot four." He said the images from that period still shock him: "There are pictures of me in hospital and I still look back on it now, thinking like 'what on Earth?'"

Doctors told him surgery was necessary but impossible until he gained weight. "They basically said to me you need some surgery to get rid of your diseased bowel but we can't do it while you're so skinny," he explained.

To stabilise him, medics placed him on TPN - Total Parenteral Nutrition - attaching him to a round-the-clock nutrient feed. "So they put me on something called TPN... and I was attached to a bag of nutrient feeding for 24 hours a day," he said.

Jordan also revealed he was initially kept "nil by mouth", making even the smallest taste of flavour a major moment.

"It got to a point and it was my favourite day when I was in there, they said 'really good news, we're going to allow you to have liquids but only short amounts, only very small amounts.'

"What they did is get a sponge on a stick and they dipped it in a tea and if you brush this on your tongue you'll be fine.
"It was the first taste of flavour I had in such a long time."

Fans flooded him with messages of support after the emotional confession. One wrote: "You go Jordan."

Another added: "Aw you are so kind to share your story with such warmth and laughter. I also suffer from colitis and have recently spent two months in hospital. I hope I can talk about it with laughter like you at some point."

Jordan has been open in the past about trying to stay productive during long hospital stays. While receiving treatment in Basildon Hospital back in 2018, he told The Sun: "Two weeks in, I wasn't coping well and I was feeling really down.

"I was just sitting there watching TV and doing nothing.

"I needed to make this time count and I decided to turn it around and do something worthwhile instead."
He added: "The goal was to make the best out of a bad situation and I think I have."

True to form, he ended up earning around £1,000 through reselling and comping - and even finished his own advice book.
