An eight-year-old boy is among schoolchildren who were injured when the roof of a school bus was "completely" ripped off after hitting a low bridge in a UK village. Emergency services rushed to the scene on Spendmore Lane in Coppull, Lancashire, on Wednesday afternoon after the bus collided with the bridge.
Lancashire Police closed the road in both directions from the junction of Lancaster Street to Regent Street and warned that the closure would last "for some time". One person took to social media to write: "The roof has completely sheared off." Another wrote: "Avoid Spendmore lane. A double-decker bus has driven under the bridge, and the full roof has been ripped off! Hope everyone involved is OK."
