Olympic champion Jessica Ennis-Hill will join Kevin Sinfield on the Sheffield stage of his latest challenge to raise funds for Motor Neurone Disease (MND).

Ennis-Hill, who lives in Sheffield, has agreed to run alongside Sinfield on Thursday, in the fourth leg of his '7 in 7 Together' challenge.

Sinfield, who started his latest challenge on Monday, is aiming to run an ultra marathon every day for a week.

This will be Sinfield’s sixth annual challenge in support of MND charities, having raised over £10m up to now, which has helped build a socialist centre in Leeds, the first of its kind in the United Kingdom.

The former England and Leeds Rhinos star embarked on the challenges after his former team-mate and close friend Rob Burrow was diagnosed with MND.

Sinfield's astonishing efforts have earned him plaudits around the world, and Ennis-Hill is keen to lend her support to his latest challenge.

She will be one of the most high-profile stars to lend her name to Sinfield's campaigning, providing a huge boost when it comes to raising awareness of MND.

Ennis-Hill won Olympic gold in the heptathlon in 2012 and is also a three-time world champion.

Since retiring from athletics in 2016, Ennis-Hill has forged a successful media career, and became a patron of several charities, including the Sheffield Children's Hospital and Barrie Wells' sports foundation.

Sinfield remains on a mission to find a cure for the cruel disease, and recently admitted news that England World Cup winner Lewis Moody had been diagnosed with MND was a "stark" reminder of how the campaigning had to go on.

Moody, meanwhile, is aiming to host a dinner in April to raise more funds, and is hoping to organise a charity bike ride as well at some stage in 2026.

After completing the Sheffield leg of his challenge, Sinfield will move on to Cumbria and Scotland, before finishing in Leeds on Sunday.
