New Delhi: More than 100 IndiGo flights were affected at 8 airports across the country on Wednesday 03 December 2025 sometimes due to technical issues and sometimes due to crew shortages. 11 flights were cancelled in Indore 19 in Hyderabad 8 in Surat 25 in Ahmedabad 42 in Bengaluru and 10 in Kolkata.
IndiGo Airlines issued a statement saying that flights were affected due to bad weather system glitches and new staffing regulations. We apologize for the inconvenience. Operations will be fully restored within the next 48 hours.
DGCA seeks explanation
Meanwhile the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has sought a response from the airline. This problem with IndiGo flights has been ongoing since last month. In November 1272 flights were cancelled. Of these 755 flights were cancelled due to crew shortages and changes in staff duty schedules.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has established new pilot work regulations known as Flight Duty Time Limitations (FDTL). These were implemented in two phases. The first phase came into effect on July 1. The second phase which began on November 1 began impacting airlines particularly IndiGos flights.
What are the new regulations?
Pilots will now be required to provide 48 hours of mandatory rest per week compared to the previous rules. previously a pilot could make 6 night landings. This limit has now been reduced to two.
