A digitally remastered 4K version of the Hindi cult film Sholay will be released in theatres on December to mark its Golden Jubilee anniversary of release. The classic film was released in 1975.

Sholay to be released in 4K format on Big screen





Hyderabad: Cult film ‘Sholay’, a favourite across different generations, will hit the big screen on December 12.


The Hindi film, which is celebrating its golden jubilee of release, will be screened again in its original un-cut version which is digitally remastered. The classic will also be in 4K resolution, according to a press release issued by Cinepolis India here on Wednesday.




The re-release will also carry a moment of sentiment for lakhs of fans as legendary actor Dharmendra, who portrayed the character of Veeru, remains in the thoughts and prayers of audiences across India.


“Sholay occupies a very special place in the hearts of Indian audiences, and it is a privilege for Cinépolis to bring this landmark film back to cinemas for its Golden Jubilee. For five decades, Sholay has never lost its popularity and appeal to every section of society. Its characters, dialogues and set pieces have inspired generations, from Gabbar’s “Kitne aadmi the?” to the warmth of Jai and Veeru’s friendship. The film remains one of the rare titles that grandparents, parents, and young audiences all recognize instantly. Bringing it back to the big screen allows families to share the experience together, with many watching it for the first time in theatres.
