Why Accenture is now calling its 800,000 employees 'reinventors'

Accenture, a leading consultancy firm, has started referring to its 800,000 employees as "reinventors."


The move comes as part of the company's effort to establish itself as a leader in artificial intelligence (AI).


According to Financial Times, CEO Julie Sweet has already started using this new term for her staff and is pushing for wider adoption within the company.

The term "reinventor" was introduced after a major reorganization at Accenture in June.


The company merged its strategy, consulting, creative, technology, and operations divisions into one unit called "Reinvention Services."


This restructuring also led to the introduction of the new employee label.


The move is part of a broader trend where big businesses have started using unusual jargon for their staff.

The "reinventor" initiative also highlights Accenture's growing focus on its AI capabilities.


In September, Sweet told investors that the company would "exit" employees who were not adapting to using AI in their work.


The firm is training its staff in generative AI fundamentals but has said those for whom "reskilling...is not a viable path for the skills we need" would be let go.

Accenture has also created a version of its internal human resources website where the staff are referred to as "reinventors" instead of "workers."


The move further reinforces the company's commitment to its new employee label and digital transformation.


Accenture, which spun out of Arthur Andersen in 1989, provides IT and business strategy consulting and outsourcing services to thousands of companies worldwide.
