Monsoon Update – After wreaking havoc in Sri Lanka, Cyclone Ditwa has now become active in many parts of India. Late last night, Ditwa brought heavy rains and thunderstorms to several areas, disrupting normal life. While rain brought relief to North India, the cold forced people to stay indoors.

Continuous snowfall in the hilly areas of Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh has caused temperatures to drop significantly. The situation is similar in the hilly areas of Kashmir. The increasing cold in Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and Punjab has prompted people to light bonfires.

Dense fog enveloped the capital, Delhi, and the surrounding areas early in the morning. The Indian Meteorological Department has issued an alert for heavy rain in various parts of the country. Find the latest weather updates below.

Heavy rains in Tamil Nadu, including Tamil Nadu

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) believes the effects of Cyclone Ditwa will continue until December 4th. Due to the impact of Cyclone Ditwa, the weather is deteriorating in many states. An alert has been issued for heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning in Tamil Nadu and coastal Andhra Pradesh on December 1st.

A warning for heavy rain has also been issued in Yanam, Rayalaseema, and Telangana. People have been urged not to venture out due to the possibility of lightning and severe thunderstorms. Fishermen have also been urged to leave coastal areas.

The IMD has predicted heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning, accompanied by winds of 70 to 80 kilometers per hour, in northern Tamil Nadu. South Tamil Nadu may experience heavy rain accompanied by winds of 60 to 70 kilometers per hour. The weather will remain poor here from December 1st to December 4th. Heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning is also likely to continue in Kerala.

According to the Indian Meteorological Department, there is no possibility of any change in minimum temperatures in northwest and eastern India for the next 48 hours. After this, temperatures are expected to drop by 2 to 3 degrees over three days. Temperatures are expected to rise by 2–3 degrees over two days in Central India.

Meanwhile, no change in minimum temperatures is expected in Northeast India for the next 48 hours. Dense fog is likely to prevail in many areas of Manipur on the morning of December 1st. Visibility will be reduced due to fog in Odisha as well. Dense fog is expected in Himachal Pradesh from December 1st to 3rd.
