Raipur. The Indian team won against South Africa by 17 runs in the Ranchi ODI on Sunday (30 November). Now the second match of the ODI series is to be played between the two teams on 3rd December in Raipur. Before the Raipur ODI, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has taken a big decision. An important meeting is going to be held between BCCI officials and men’s team management in Raipur on Wednesday. The purpose of this meeting is to prepare a roadmap for the team in all formats, to resolve the problems to team selection and communication.

According to the report of Sportsstar, BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia, Joint Secretary Prabhtej Singh Bhatia, Team India Head Coach Gautam Gambhir and Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar will attend this meeting. It is not clear whether BCCI President Mithun Manhas will be present in the meeting or not.

Since the meeting has been called on the day of the second ODI, senior players will not attend this meeting. This meeting is very important amidst the growing questions within the team, poor performance in Test cricket and concerns arising regarding the relationship of the team management with the senior players (Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma).

A senior BCCI official said that the objective of the meeting is to bring the team management and selectors in one direction so that there is continuity in selection and the paths for development of the players are clear. The official admitted that the confusing tactics on and off the field during recent Test matches had worried the board. He said, ‘There were many occasions in the home Test season where the strategy was not clear. There is still time for the next Test series, so we want clarity and planning from now itself.

The sourness with the senior players will go away!
BCCI is also admitting that uneasiness has increased regarding communication between the current team management and senior players. India will enter the T20 World Cup next year as the defending champion and after that the ODI World Cup is also going to be held in the year 2027. In such a situation, BCCI wants that all the problems within the team should be resolved immediately.

No player was named in the report, but there is a lot of discussion about the relationship between legends like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma and the team management. After retiring from T20 International last year, Kohli-Rohit also said goodbye to Test cricket this year. Since then, reports of lack of communication between Kohli-Rohit and the new team management are continuously increasing.

The complex strategies of Test cricket, the upcoming ICC tournaments and the coolness in relations with the two great players of the team, all these things are making this meeting very important. Not just the dressing room or selection table, fans and cricket experts are keeping an eye on this meeting.
