Teamwork Story in AirAsia: Tony Fernandes, CEO of AirAsia's parent company Capital A, explained in a post on LinkedIn how his team got 96 flights ready to take off in just 25 hours. Praising his team, he said that if you have such a team and leadership then you can easily overcome any challenge. What the Air Asia team did is amazing.

Airbus' technical problem poses a challenge

Tony Fernandes told, two days ago at 10 pm he got a call from the CEO of Airbus. JetBlue had a technical error. Computer systems had to be downgraded and hardware on some aircraft had to be replaced. This meant that 6,000 aircraft worldwide could have been grounded and entire operations could have been affected. Tony immediately spoke to the team and other leaders at Airbus. The entire team of the airline was worried that flights would be affected.

Emergency meeting and team preparation

Tony Fernandes told that he held a crisis meeting with his team at 12:40 pm. This included the engineering team, communication and customer happiness departments. There was concern that the flights might not take off at all. But the engineering team started finding a solution to the problem. After hard work throughout the night, the engineering team finally found the solution by 5 in the morning. In the next two hours, all the necessary control boxes were replaced and 96 aircraft were ready for flight in just 25 hours. Tony called his team 'Allstars' and praised their hard work wholeheartedly. He said, 'It was amazing hard work. All the employees contributed to this work by giving up their holidays and off-days.

Leadership and Inspiration

Tony also praised Airbus CEO Christian Scherer, who personally helped. He said, the real leader is the one who stands together in difficult times. 'Most airline CFOs and leaders are not present in times of crisis, but Scherer set the example.'

Performance despite financial crisis

Tony also shared that AirAsia faced many challenges without financial support. Malaysia's banking assistance was limited and much of the finance had to be self-funded. Despite this, the team maintained 70% on-time performance and achieved $1 billion in EBITAR in the third quarter. He congratulated the team and described it as a brilliant display of courage, dedication and resilience. He said, 'We will return to pre-Covid service by December. This is truly an extraordinary performance.
