Mann Ki Baat: Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his special affection towards Uttarakhand in the ‘Mann Ki Baat’ program broadcast on Sunday (November 30). Referring to the increasing possibilities of winter tourism, adventure sports and wedding destination in Uttarakhand, he appealed to the countrymen to visit the Himalayan valleys in winter. The Prime Minister said that the beauty of Uttarakhand, the peaceful environment and the natural beauty here give an unforgettable experience to the tourists.
Let us tell you that Prime Minister Modi talked about Uttarakhand for about two and a half minutes in the program. He said that during the winter season, places like Auli, Munsiyari, Dayara and Chopta are becoming increasingly popular across the country. He also mentioned the state’s first High Altitude Ultra Run Marathon held recently in Pithoragarh, which was held at an altitude of 14.5 thousand feet. More than 750 players from 18 states participated in this competition. This 60 kilometer long race started at five in the morning and despite the severe cold, the enthusiasm of the players was worth seeing. The Prime Minister said that a few years ago only 2,000 pilgrims used to come for Adi Kailash Yatra, now this number has reached 30,000.
He said that Uttarakhand Winter Games is going to be organized soon, due to which people interested in adventure sports are excited. The Prime Minister said that connectivity and infrastructure are being developed rapidly to promote tourism in the state and the local people are getting benefits from the homestay policy. He also told that Uttarakhand is now fast emerging as a wedding destination, especially the demand for destination weddings on the banks of Ganga has increased.
Expressing his gratitude to the Prime Minister, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that Prime Minister Modi is the biggest brand ambassador of Uttarakhand Tourism. He said that the positive words of the Prime Minister will give new direction and strength to tourism in the state. The government is continuously working for the development of natural, spiritual and adventure tourism.
