Ayush Mhatre Second Consecutive Ton in SMAT: India Under-19 team captain Ayush Mhatre, continuing his excellent form, has scored his second consecutive century in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Mhatre gave Mumbai victory by 9 wickets by playing an unbeaten inning of 104 runs in 59 balls against Andhra Pradesh. Before Andhra Pradesh, Ayush Mhatre had scored a century against Vidarbha and with that century he became the youngest player in Indian cricket to score a century in all three formats.
In the Group A match, Mumbai defeated Andhra Pradesh by 9 wickets. Mhatre scored unbeaten 104 runs with 9 sixes and 5 fours in 59 balls for the Mumbai team which was chasing the target of 160 runs. He won the match with Indian team captain Suryakumar Yadav by making a partnership of 105 runs in 9.4 overs. Surya scored unbeaten 31 runs in this match. Batting first, Andhra scored 159 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 20 overs, which included 48 runs from Ricky Bhui. Mumbai achieved this target easily in 15.2 overs.
Kerala captain Sanju Samson made a brilliant comeback and played an aggressive inning of 43 runs in 15 balls against Chhattisgarh, which helped Kerala achieve the target of 121 runs in just 10.4 overs. Samson hit 5 sixes in his innings, which helped Kerala register an easy victory. Samson made a comeback at the top of the order and hit consecutive sixes on fast bowler Ravi Kiran and wrist spinner Ajay Mandal. After this Kerala achieved the target without any difficulty.
Batting first, Chhattisgarh team could score only 120 runs in 19.5 overs. KM Asif took 3 wickets for 16 runs, which included dismissing Shashank Singh without opening the account. For Chhattisgarh, only Sanjeet Desai (35 runs in 23 balls) could do something special, but the team’s innings failed to achieve rhythm.
Riyan Parag was seen struggling once again as he scored only 14 runs in 19 balls for Assam. Assam scored 132 runs for 7 wickets, after which Railways won the match by 3 wickets. Sahil Jain played an important inning of 38 runs in 29 balls, due to which Assam’s score could cross 130 runs. While chasing the target, Railways had initially scored 115 runs for 7 wickets. But Karn Sharma (24 runs in 16 balls) showed patience under pressure and completed the requirement of 18 runs in the last 13 balls. Karna hit a six and gave victory to Railways with two balls remaining.
