New Delhi: Till now Railways used to provide bed, pillow and bedsheet only to the passengers of AC coaches. But now passengers of non-AC sleeper coaches can also avail this facility. Southern Railway has decided to provide pillow and bedsheet to non-AC sleeper coach passengers at a fixed fare of Rs 50 from January 1.

This scheme will initially be implemented as a pilot project in 10 trains.

This scheme will initially be started as a pilot project in 10 trains including Chennai-Mangaluru Superfast Express and Chennai Egmore-Mangaluru Express. Seeing its success, there are plans to implement it in other trains also. This effort of Southern Railway will provide great convenience to the passengers traveling in non-AC sleeper coaches during rainy and winter seasons.

Till now, bedsheet and pillow were available only in AC sleeper coaches.

Till now, only those traveling in AC sleeper coaches got the facility of bedsheet and pillow. But, this facility is given to them without any charge. This is the first time that pillow and sheet facility is being introduced for non-sleeper coach passengers.

How much will be charged for pillows and bedsheets in sleeper coach of train?

A fare of Rs 50 will be charged for pillow covers and bedsheets. At the same time, only Rs 20 will have to be paid for the bedsheet and Rs 30 for the pillow cover.
