Pedro Porro has aimed a subtle dig at Tottenham fans and addressed his angry reaction at the final whistle of the defeat to Fulham. Spurs conceded twice in the first six minutes, and though Mohammed Kudus halved the deficit midway through the second half, they were unable to find an equaliser.
Thomas Frank's side have secured just one victory at home in the Premier League this season, with this loss to Fulham making it just one win from their last seven games. A deflected Kenny Tete strike put the visitors in front, with Harry Wilson superbly netting from distance after a mistake by Guglielmo Vicario just moments later.
The Spurs goalkeeper was caught way out of his goal after a weak clearance from a Fulham through ball, which allowed Wilson to sweep home into an empty net.
Vicario was booed any time he touched the ball for the remainder of the half, with jeers arriving after he cleared a pass towards his goal.
Porro has since taken to social media to condemn the reaction from Tottenham supporters and also explain his actions post-game, where he returned to the pitch after storming down the tunnel to shout at Lucas Bergvall.
He said via Instagram stories: "Football is emotions. In football, as in life, there can always be mistakes, what I will not tolerate is hearing disrespect from the fan to my teammates, hence my frustration at the end of the game.
"And we will get up, we remind you six months ago, everything was so bad and in the end it is not how it begins but how it ends. To the true Spurs fan, I love you."
It seems quite clear that Porro is far from pleased at the Spurs fans that opted to boo Vicario and is of the belief they are not real supporters.
Frank also spoke down on those that chose to give such a negative reaction to his goalkeeper after a big error.
Asked if he understood their frustration, he said: "Yeah but I think we need to be clear on what I talked about. I talked about after Vic, that I didn’t like.
"That is unacceptable. You can’t be after one player. Let me finish. I think that is very important because if you want anyone to perform you need to be behind them.
"In my opinion, that’s what you get to get people to perform in the best possible way. After, no problem."
The Lilywhites are in desperate need of a response but have one of the toughest tests on their calendar up next as they travel to face Newcastle United on Tuesday evening.
Spurs have already lost 2-0 at St James' Park this season which ended their run in the Carabao Cup. Pressure on Thomas Frank appears to be ramping up and another defeat could result in the game against his former club Brentford next weekend being make or break.
