Punjab News: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has announced that the state government is going to launch the largest ever road construction work in the history of Punjab with a target of constructing 44,920 km of roads at a total cost of Rs 16,209 crore. The Chief Minister said that the government will complete this road construction work in all villages, towns and cities by the end of next year.


He said that world class standards and safety rules will be completely followed in the construction of these roads, and along with this, the mandatory condition of maintenance of five years will also be implemented. CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said that this step will improve transport facilities in the state and will give new impetus to rural infrastructure.


Mandatory condition of maintenance also added


The Chief Minister said that the state government has already constructed 19,373 kilometers of rural link roads at a cost of Rs 4,092 crore. This year, roads in many areas were damaged due to floods, but the government completed these projects with full hard work and promptness and gave priority to the construction of rural link roads. He said that a mandatory condition of five years of maintenance has also been added to all these projects, which makes this scheme an example. Besides, proper direction indicators and other necessary facilities will also be ensured on the roads. The Chief Minister said that everyone’s demand was that high quality and safety standards should be maintained in road construction.
