Mangaluru: St Joseph Engineering College (SJEC), Mangaluru, organised ALVIDA 2025, a heartfelt farewell ceremony for its final-year undergraduate students on Friday at the Kalam Auditorium. The programme, held at 10:30 AM, brought together faculty, administrators and students to celebrate achievements and bid an emotional farewell to the graduating Class of 2025–26.
The event commenced with an invocation, followed by the presentation of a farewell video that captured cherished memories, student experiences and the journey shared across four transformative years at SJEC. The video set a nostalgic and emotional tone for the gathering.
Delivering the Welcome Address, Principal Dr Rio D’Souza acknowledged the contributions of the outgoing batch and expressed appreciation for their academic and co-curricular engagements. He highlighted how the students had enriched the institution through dedication, initiative and community spirit.
Dr Ravikantha Prabhu, Head of Mechanical Engineering, proposed the toast in honour of the Class of 2025–26. He commended the students for their perseverance, personal growth and strong values displayed throughout their academic journey. He encouraged them to uphold the ethos of SJEC as they embark on professional and personal pursuits.
Responding on behalf of the graduating students, Ms Apoorva Shetty of the Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department expressed gratitude to the faculty, staff and peers. She reflected on meaningful relationships, challenges overcome and milestones achieved together.
Following her, Mr Glen Elric Fernandes of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (Data Science) also offered a toast response, sharing insights into his learning experience, teamwork and holistic development during his time at SJEC.
Director Rev. Fr Wilfred Prakash D’Souza delivered the Presidential Address, offering guidance and encouragement to the outgoing students. He reminded them of their responsibility to carry forward the values of integrity, humility and service.
A special blessing ceremony was led by Assistant Director Rev. Fr Kenneth Rayner Crasta, who invoked God’s grace and protection for the graduating batch as they prepared to step into a new chapter of life.
The farewell concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Ms Gayana M. N, Convenor of ALVIDA 2025. She acknowledged the management, faculty, staff and student volunteers for their dedicated efforts. The programme drew to a close with the singing of the College Anthem, marking a solemn and memorable conclusion to the celebrations.
The farewell ceremony reflected the spirit of unity, gratitude and accomplishment that defines the SJEC community. For many students, the occasion served as a poignant reminder of their growth—academically, personally and socially—during their years at the institution.
