Delhi Capitals have been one of the most unluckiest sides in the Women’s Premier League over the last few years. DC have reached the finals three times but always failed to cross the line. In the WPL 2025 final DC lost by 8 runs to Mumbai Indians earlier this year.

The Delhi franchise will now be looking for a reboot under possibly a new skipper for the WPL 2026 season after releasing Meg Lanning. DC secured some top talents like Indian spinners Shree Charani and Sneh Rana and with Chinelle Henry from the West Indies.

The 21-year-old Charani was India’s 2nd highest wicket-taker in ICC Women ODI World Cup 2025-winning campaign with 14 wickets in 9 matches at an average of 27. Speaking on JioHotstar all three of the Delhi Capitals players shared their excitement and goals ahead of the new season.

Delhi Capitals spent Rs 1.3 crore to bring home Charani. “Before the auction I was just hoping to play in WPL this season with any team. But I am very happy to be back with Delhi Capitals. It feels like home and I love playing for this team” Charani said.

On her goals after returning to Delhi Capitals Charani said “I feel very proud to be part of Delhi Capitals again. This is my chance to contribute to the team once more. Im grateful to be back with DC and looking forward to a good season ahead. Im just hoping for the best to happen for our team.”

Delhi Capitals all-rounder Sneh Rana was full of confidence about the upcoming WPL 2026 season. “Our team combination looks very good strong and well-sorted. Shree Charani remains Delhis best young pick and I’m sure she’ll do well this season. I’m hopeful well have a great season and finally lift the trophy this time.”

On excitement about joining the team from Royal Challengers Bengaluru Rana who was bought for Rs 50 lakh said “I’m very excited to play for Delhi Capitals and get this new opportunity. I look forward to teaming up with new teammates - it will be a great experience. Delhi has explosive Indian batters like Shafali Verma and Jemimah Rodrigues and I’m really excited to meet and play with them.”

Delhi Capitals and West Indies Chinelle Henry who was bought for Rs 1.3 crore shared her emotions after the auction. “Honestly I was really nervous and excited. Now I can finally breathe again. I’m so happy to be returning to India and joining the DC family. I’m actually lost for words – just sitting here in my living room in Australia feeling overwhelmed with joy.”
