Damoh: A unique example of administrative activism has come to light in Damoh, Madhya Pradesh. Here, the son of a BLO (Booth Level Officer) who died during election work has been provided compassionate appointment in a record time of just five days. On Monday, Collector Sudhir Kochhar himself handed over the appointment letter to the deceased’s son Ankesh Gond.
This swift action is being considered as a historic event for Damoh district, where the process of compassionate appointment usually takes months.
According to the information, the duty of teacher Sitaram Gond posted in Pathari of the district was engaged in SIR (Specia Intensive Revision) work. On November 22, his health suddenly deteriorated while at work. He died during treatment, which created a stir in the administrative department.
As soon as information about the incident was received, Damoh Collector Sudhir Kochhar reached the house of deceased Sitaram Gond on the same day. He consoled the bereaved family and assured all possible help. The Collector had announced that compassionate appointment would be given to the dependents of the deceased before November 30.
The administration fulfilled its promise before the deadline. On November 27, the letter of appointment to the post of Peon (Peon) was handed over to Ankesh Gond in his chamber in the Collector’s office.
This appointment has come as a great support for the family broken by the sudden death of their father. The administration not only gave a government job to the son, but also an initiative is being taken to provide a job in the private sector to Radha Gond, the daughter of the deceased BLO, so that the family can become financially stronger. This prompt action has provided great relief to the distressed family.
