Arsenal are one of the most in-form teams in Europe right now, as they continue to tear down any opposition that stands in their way. The latest team to try and take down Mikel Arteta's side were Bayern Munich, who were yet to taste defeat in any competition this season.
That was until they rocked up to the Emirates Stadium, where goals from Jurrien Timber, Noni Madueke, and Gabriel Martinelli sealed a 3-1 win for Arsenal. While the Gunners march on in their pursuit of the Champions League, their attention will have to turn back to the Premier League quite quickly.
Yet another tough test awaits Arteta, following on from last weekend's North London Derby thrashing of Tottenham. Next, Arsenal travel to Stamford Bridge, where they face off with another set of London rivals in Chelsea, who currently occupy second in the division.
It's an opportunity to extend the gap at the top, though the hosts will see it as an opportunity to force themselves into a title race this season. Plenty of key matchups will decide which way the pendulum swings, but there is one area in particular that draws the eye.
That is the midfield battle, as Declan Rice is set to face off with Moises Caicedo, two of the most hotly anticipated transfer sagas in recent Premier League history. Considering the transfer fees for both, the two midfielders have impressed, which sets up an intriguing face-off.
Looking ahead to the game, Rice was asked about that upcoming battle on CBS Sports, where he revealed just how highly he rates Caicedo. He said: "I have a lot of respect for Moises Caicedo.
"I voted him last year in my PFA ‘Team of the Year’, I thought he was outstanding. There’s so many comparisons, but we’re playing different positions!"
It speaks volumes just how highly Rice thinks of Caicedo that he would vote for him in the PFA Team of the Year last season. The midfielder continues to move from strength to strength, with his ability to press high and win the ball back being an important part of how Chelsea play.
It certainly sets up a tantalising meeting between the pair, with the winner of that duel likely to decide the outcome of the overall match. Rice will be doing everything to ensure that he is the one who ends up on top, having earned the Player of the Match award for his contributions against Bayern Munich.
It won't be an easy game for Arsenal, given the form of their rivals Chelsea, plus the players they are still missing through injury. The Gunners are still without a recognised striker, as well as Gabriel Magalhaes, while Leandro Trossard is a fresh injury concern after Wednesday night's game.
Arteta knows just how tough that task is, as he told the press immediately after the win over Bayern Munich: "We know. You just have to watch the game that they played against Barcelona yesterday to understand how difficult and tough and what a good team Chelsea are. So we know tomorrow, we start to prepare and we go from there."
