Perfect for those who enjoy mild sweetness, this puri is loved by children and adults alike. Whether you want a comforting winter snack or a festive addition to your meals, this recipe offers a wholesome option that is both tasty and easy to prepare.
Here is a complete step-by-step guide to making Til-Gud Puri at home.
1. Mix the dry ingredients
Begin by adding wheat flour to a mixing bowl.
Add sesame seeds and cardamom powder.
Pour in 2 teaspoons of ghee or oil and combine everything well until the mixture resembles a slightly crumbly texture.
2. Prepare the jaggery mixture
In a separate pan, add water and the grated jaggery.
Heat it on a low flame until the jaggery melts completely.
Once melted, allow the syrup to cool slightly and strain it to remove impurities.
3. Knead the dough
Gradually pour the jaggery syrup into the flour mixture.
Knead gently until you form a smooth and firm dough.
Cover it and let it rest for about 15 minutes.
4. Shape the puris
Divide the dough into small portions and roll each one into a round puri.
Make sure they are neither too thick nor too thin.
5. Fry the puris
Heat oil or ghee in a pan.
Once hot, gently slide the puris into the oil and fry until they puff up and turn golden.
Remove and place them on a plate lined with tissue paper to absorb excess oil.
Your warm, flavourful Til-Gud Puris are now ready to serve. They taste delicious on their own, and their nutty-sweet flavour makes them an ideal winter comfort dish.
