PTC Web Desk: Bollywood socialite and social media influencer Orhan Awatramani, widely known as Orry, appeared before the Mumbai Police on Saturday in connection with the massive Rs 252-crore mephedrone (MD) seizure case. He reached the Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) office in Ghatkopar around 1.30 pm to record his statement.
Orry’s questioning comes after the ANC issued two notices to him, following his name surfacing during the interrogation of arrested drug trafficker Mohammed Salim Mohammed Suhail Shaikh. Although he was first summoned on Thursday, Orry had requested additional time to appear.
The case traces back to March 2024, when a clandestine mephedrone manufacturing facility was uncovered in Maharashtra’s Sangli district. Authorities seized more than 126 kg of the synthetic drug, valued at approximately Rs 252 crore. Earlier in November, Shaikh, alias Lavish, was extradited from Dubai and arrested for his alleged role in the drug operation.
Investigators describe Shaikh as a close aide of fugitive drug lord Salim Dola, who has known links to underworld figure Dawood Ibrahim. During interrogation, Shaikh reportedly claimed he organised rave parties in India and abroad, attended by celebrities from the film and fashion industries, political leaders and other public personalities. Orry was allegedly one of the attendees, according to his statement.
Shaikh also named actors Nora Fatehi and Shraddha Kapoor, as well as filmmaker duo Abbas–Mastan. The Mumbai Police have issued summons to all individuals mentioned, stating that they are being called solely for verification of Shaikh’s claims. Police officials emphasised that Orry has not been charged with any offence and has been called only to assist in the investigation.
